Essential is not hosting

Hosting keeps a site up (server, SSL, backups, CDN) and is billed separately from £75 a month for a site we built. A care plan keeps a system looked after: patched, monitored, backed up, answered for. A brochure site usually needs only hosting; a system that runs a business needs both.

§04 RulesHow we priceTwo working rules

Priced as a return, not a cost.

The five-times rule

Before you spend anything, we put a number on what the problem costs you: hours lost, leads dropped, admin repeated. Every proposal states that number above the price.

CostWorth

working rule

The working rule: a build should be worth around five times what it costs. If the maths doesn’t clear that bar, we’ll tell you not to build it.

Referrals

Know a business that needs this? That’s worth money.

£250–£500or 10%

Any introduction that becomes a client earns you £250–£500 (or 10% of the project value), paid, not promised. Agencies and professional advisers who refer regularly get a standing arrangement: see the partner programme.

The questions people ask before booking.

Q1Is the anchor the price I'll pay?

No. Anchors tell you where budgets start, and the typical band tells you where most builds of that kind land. Every project is scoped on a free call and priced as a fixed scope, plus VAT, before anything is built. The number you sign is the fixed scope from your discovery call, and it doesn't move unless the scope does.

Q2Why is every price +VAT?

Because HG Studio is a limited company (Beyond HNGT Ltd) and publishes its prices the way it invoices them. VAT-registered businesses reclaim it; if yours can't — residential lettings, some healthcare and financial-services work — say so on the call and we'll talk about it plainly.

Q3What is the five-times rule?

Before you spend anything, we put a number on what the problem costs you: hours lost, leads dropped, admin repeated. A build should be worth around five times what it costs. If the maths doesn't clear that bar, we'll tell you not to build it.

Q4What does the Systems Audit actually produce?

A day on site or remote, then written, costed findings you own: what the problem costs, what to build, what to buy off the shelf instead, and in what order. It is £1,200 fixed, half of it credited against a build signed within 90 days, and the fee holds a named start slot. For larger builds, a paid discovery from £1,500 goes further and is credited in full.

Q5How long will I wait to start?

The studio takes on three builds a quarter, and at most two large systems are in flight at once. The next start date is confirmed on the call and written into the proposal; a deposit received by the date on the proposal holds that start. If the honest answer is a later month, you'll hear it before you sign, not after.

Q6Is Essential the same as hosting?

No, and the table above says so line by line. Hosting keeps a site up: server, SSL, backups, CDN, from £75 a month for a site we built. Essential keeps a system looked after: patched, monitored, backed up, with a direct line and a stated response time. Most sites need hosting; systems that run a business need a care plan too.

Q7What happens after launch?

A care plan, if you want one, on a three-month minimum and then rolling monthly. Essential (from £400/mo) keeps the system live, patched, monitored and backed up, with a direct line. Growth (from £800/mo) adds ongoing improvements driven by what the analytics say. Scale (from £1,800/mo) reserves days each month for whatever moves the needle most.

Q8Who actually does the work?

Henry Goff leads every build and is the accountable name from the first call to care. When a project needs more hands, contract specialists join: product design, native iOS, data & AI, SEO. There are no account managers and no layers between you and the person responsible.

Q9What happens if Henry is unavailable?

You own the repository from day one, so nothing is held hostage. Every build is documented to a written standard, a named backup developer is written into the contract, care plans carry stated response times, and the contract includes a repo-ownership clause. The studio is small on purpose; the continuity policy is what makes that safe to buy.

Q10Do you work in regulated environments?

Yes. The studio's background is eight years inside an AIM-listed, FCA/SRA-regulated legal services group and three years in NHS workforce and governance roles, and the Cyntex Group CRM was built for an FCA-regulated claims business: client intake, document generation, change management and records in one compliant system.

Q11Is there a referral fee?

Any introduction that becomes a client earns you £250–£500 (or 10% of the project value), paid, not promised. Agencies and professional advisers who refer regularly get a standing arrangement through the partner programme.
